Short answer

LED sign installation cost depends on the sign size and weight, mounting method, foundation, electrical distance, site access, lifting equipment, traffic control and commissioning requirements. Installation should be quoted from a defined plan and verified site conditions.

Installation is more than lifting the sign

A successful installation includes preparation before the truck arrives and testing after the cabinet is in place. The quote should state which party owns each prerequisite.

Factors that change the installation scope

Site conditions drive labor and equipment.

  • New foundation versus reuse of an existing structure
  • Crane, bucket truck or other lifting requirements
  • Distance to electrical service
  • Underground utilities and excavation
  • Lane, sidewalk or parking restrictions
  • Travel, delivery and secure equipment storage

Electrical and communication work

Outdoor digital signs need properly planned power, disconnects, grounding and communication. The controller may use cellular, wired or other connectivity depending on the system and site.

Commissioning and handoff

The display should be powered, configured and tested at different brightness levels. Communication, scheduling and content publishing should be confirmed before the project is closed.

How to obtain a reliable quote

Provide a current site plan, sign drawings, equipment information, site photos and known electrical conditions. If those are not available, begin with a field survey.
